WEKAF was formed in 1989 in Cebu, Philippines, to further both the sport of eskrima and the proliferation of the Philippino martial arts throughout the world. There are currently over 20 member countries with thousands of practitioners.
The WEKAF world championships are held every other year and are considered, rightly, to be the showcase event. Fighters and forms exponents of the highest calibre come together in competition to prove themselves and represent their country.
WEKAF is run through its country directors and an Executive Committee elected from the country directors during the Congress at the World Championships. The Executive decide on WEKAF rules, regulations, election of new countries and host for the next WEKAF World Championships.
The WEKAF-GB Director is currently Mubarik Hussain. Mubarik has been on the WEKAF scene for many years and is open to and welcomes suggestions and comments regarding WEKAF-GB.
WEKAF Membership is £10 per year. This is collected at the November tournament and is required to compete in the WEKAF tournaments.
